Rights over health & Safety at work

Its a bit of a muddle - but essentially we have just found out that work done three years ago to create an office with a false roof on at work was botched. Apart from the fact the timbers were just bolted together and are now sagging, there is exposed insulation. We have been told this is both a health risk factor and a fire risk as its two feet below a large electric lights (large fluorescent tubes). Essentially we've been working 6 feet away from this.
All of us have had constant illnesses which we were blaming on the building being cold, I have had repeated chest infections and last winterI had to go back on inhalers for my asthma - first time in 15 years.
I am seeing a Dr for my respiratory issues, and am now worried the insulation could be at the root of this.
What rights do I have, or what should I do ? One of my colleagues left as they always felt unwell. Work are reacting like I'm making a fuss over nothing but I feel very concerned.

I assume none of you are in a union so if you want to play hardball I'd suggest you phone the fire department and enquire politely what one does if they suspect an employer is ignoring fire regs. Fire depts love have something to do on an otherwise quiet day.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. You cant get an infection from being cold. Who has told you it is a health risk, is it fibreglass insulation? What are the owners/management doing about the building problem. Has there been a H&S assessment done?0

“ We have been told” this is a health risk factor and a fire risk?
By whom? And do you have any medical evidence showing that your illnesses are related to the work situation? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
