Interesting idea, can I move just my electricity to Octopus?
Yes. You are asked about fuel switching preferences when signing up.

Octopus would accept an application for electricity only.   Previous supplier of electricity  AND gas might not allow you to keep existing gas tariff ?

I'm with SP for SEG and it was a nightmare to get set up. Poor communication, limited ways of getting in touch and complicated system to use. Now I'm registered it isn't so bad but takes a while to get paid and first payment they tried to tell me I had had my system for 3 years and so only half my export was payable. I had to send them documentation again to show when it was installed and they paid me the balance owed. They also hadn't set up the MPAN correctly as I couldn't register for any of the energy saving events. That now appears to be fixed.

Since then I have moved to Octopus for my electricity but am on the standard rate so getting more from SP (12p) as opposed to Octopus (4.1p). I need to look at Flux and Agile to see if it is worth changing tarrif.

Well, I signed up with Octopus for electricity only (don't know what EDF are going to do with my gas supply). I need the DNO letter before I can get the solar export going - this gives me time to decide which tariff to go for.

I also have a fix until August. I applied to Scottish Power for export as soon as my system went in so will see how it goes.

You could be getting 15p export from Octopus. I'm on Agile for import and Fixed rate for export.

Octopus 4.1p is their rate where people deal with Octopus only for export.

A bit mean of Octopus, don't you think?  Okay, it offers a strong incentive to become/remain an Octopus customer for your supply but I keep reading posts from @Screwdriva saying that they get 21p for export on one of the more fancy Octopus tariffs.  If Octopus is prepared to pay 21p in the right circumstances then 4.1p just seems mean to me.

In our area Octopus "Flux" would pay 25.3p / kWh for export during peak hours 16:00 to 19:00. Obviously that's loss making so they'd be mad to offer it to everyone. The fixed rate of 15p must be higher that this wholesale cost most of the time.

I thought about moving my solar FIT to Octopus, I looked at my paperwork and it looked very different to that requested from Octopus, so I gave up. I should look again, I am sure it's not so hard.
