GWR Train Fares

Hi,
Has anyone else experienced a massive price hike from GWR recently that's way above the advertise 4.9% in the press?
I would often travel return from Plymouth To London for around £79. I am currently being quoted for the same departure and return times on a Monday £109.50. If I am to travel on any other day than Monday it's £139. This is a 78% increase at worse case and 17% best case.
I am looking at 12 week advances and have an alert set up when they become available.
This I find shocking considering how poor the service generally is with delays, cancellations and strikes.
Anyone else experience this?

I would recommend using trainsplit.com for your tickets. Maybe a railcard can save you money. If you can't get anything else, maybe a Network Railcard is an option. Price up your trips and see if you'd make a saving.

The 4.9% figure only applies to season fares for commuters, not ad hoc long distance.1

As above. The 4.9% applies to regulated tickets only: not to Advance fares.
Railcard, ticket split? No free lunch, and no free laptop
