I have been reviewing the latest info on child support and wanted to check that my understanding is correct.
My wife and I both work full time and our only child has just turned one. I earn £105k basic salary and my wife earns £40k. My understanding is that because I earn over the £60k threshold we are not entitled to claim anything?
If I earned £59k and my wife earned £59k then we would be able to claim as we would both be under the £100k threshold even though the total household income would be similar to another house where one partner earned a relatively high slary and one earned a relatively low salary?
The threshold also doesn't take into account any other factors such as where a family lives or what the local living costs might be?
If we are able to claim child support or any other kind of benefit please please let me know.

You are referring to "Child Benefit", not "Child Support" (which is where one parent pays the other when they are separated).
Since you are earning above the £80K threshold, no claim can be made. To be able to claim the full amount, both parents would need to be earning less than £60K.0 -
Thanks for confriming my understanding on this.
Does anyone know of any support at all that we would be eligible for?0 -
With 145 joint income I doubt it.0
