wrong band of council tax

we believe our property is on a higher band, we were speaking to a friend at the weekend & his band is the same as ours. He lives in a large semi detached 4 bedroom house our house is a detached bungalow with 2 bedrooms.
We live about 2 miles from each other so not sure if this would affect prices?
On looking at our neighbours banding they are same as ours or higher, although ours is the only 2 bed bungalow, the rest of houses are 3/4 bed semi’s.
I’ve been searching for similar 2 bedroom bungalows in area & some are lower bands than ours? Would a detached property raise the banding? Any help much appreciated. Thanks

I'm ex VOA and came across plenty of 2 bed detached bungalows in the same band as 4 bed semi detached houses. Depending on the band, because of the way CT works, the house could be worth £25,000 (1991 values) more than the bungalow and both be correctly in the same band.

Your best bet is to look for detached bungalows in the area of the same age and size as yours in a lower band
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
