Endowment policy.

In 1995 I purchased a property and had a variable mortgage with an endowment policy running alongside it.
Shortly after selling the property in 2001 the endowment policy which was with Axa Equity and Law at the time went missing.
I'm desperately trying to track down the policy as it may possibly have some kind of monetary value today but I don't have the policy number anymore and when I took the policy out, I did it through a branch of Axa Equity and Law in Lowther Street, Carlisle, Cumbria at the time.
However, I get the feeling that this branch may be long gone by now.
I've tried utilising numerous options through the internet with absolutely no joy at all and now need all the help I can get to track down this endowment policy.
I don't know where else to go or who else I can turn to for help and/or assistance.
If anyone can assist me with this issue I would be very grateful.
