Parents salary CSA

Asking on behalf of someone else, thinking of going through CSA.

Do they need to know the paying parents salary?

What happens if the parrying parent reduces their hours of work in order to reduce the amount of CSA they pay?

Thanks

    1. Going through the child, maintenance service is based on income. So yes, they will ask about salary and any other income that the paying parent may have.

    2. Any income changes are 25% or more need to be reported, so someone reducing their hours to pay less would depend on how big reduction it was.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

It's very unlikely that the paying parent won't say how much he earns, there are 3 children ages 5yrs, 3yrs and 18months.  The paying parent is giving £230/mth when pestered.  So if he doesn't disclose his earnings it should be set at the default at £65/week?

    From the link:
The Child Maintenance Service will find out the paying parent’s yearly gross income from information supplied by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
