I've told quite a few people about this site and how I've won stuff. Most are quite pleased but someone (an aunt that I hadn't seen for years) said that she didn't believe that people actually won stuff - I never liked her anyway, she made me feel as if I'd lied  Lots of people are very negative and don't believe that they'll win so they don't even bother trying

im a new person, very new infact, couple of months at most and i first came here from seeing martin on tv (it was about the bank charges bit) and i dont have and bank issues or debt or anything so it was more just my curiousity and liking what he does, stumbled over this board and entering things for free really appeals to me. with any sort of old vs new stuff i always think noone started off old.
and id like to watch his show and see any compers from this board, and although i am bothered about decreased odds whatever happens happens. it could help some people i suppose.win £2008 in 2008 member's club no 16. £200 down. at a guess. groovey

I hope we have made all newbies welcome. I have tried hard to give a personal welcome to everyone who signed up for the comping challenge, although occaisionally pressure of work and single parenthood took over. I am glad so many lovely people have joined.

Hi All
I thought I would add my bit. I have been a member of MSN for quite a while ,but I only started using the comps bit about 1 month ago thought I would give it a try. If you actually think of all the people that use MSN and if all of them started using the comps board even without Martin mentioning it on TV. It would mean that probably quite a few thousand of extra people would be added to the comp board.
I used to use the grab it quick forum the most and I have now noticed that for one the companies have caught on to the sight because alot of people now try and grab the offer quickly and with so many more people doing it the offer vanishes very quickly , so you have to be quick.
So we will have to see what the companies will do if they get bombarded with extra comp entries but it is all advertising for them.
Just to say a big Thank you to all of you that do list I have only recently started talking on MSN due to the friendly group you all seem to be. One day I will find a comp that hasn't been listed before.:j0 -
Just to say, I hope no people new to this forum feel unwelcome after reading this, sorry to hear that some do. I'm still quite new myself and have always been made to feel very welcome here. I don't think we need to worry about an influx of newbies harming our chances of winning...as I said earlier only the dedicated continue, and lots of people post more comps so we all win.
After all, we were new once too!!
too many comps..not enough time!0 -
I think I'm a bit too shy to appear on the show
. However I would really love to see any other member from this site on the show telling of their wins and their experiences.
With regards to any sudden new influx of compers I doubt it will last. I think it is a possibility that after the show a lot of people would join expecting to start winning big prizes almost immediately. I think after a week or two a lot of them would stop visiting as they hadn't won any prizes. As others have already mentioned I think we should be welcoming and supportive to new compers and not view them as any sort of a threat.2022 wins include.... £1,000 cheque £150 ASDA gift card £250 Impericon gift voucher £100 cheque £100 of plant bulbs £100 Bower Collective voucher0 -
Whenever comps get any media publicity you tend to see a spike or two, but then that quickly dies down. Some newbies stick around, others fall by the way side. The recent phone line scandals also probably made people more sceptical about competitions, and they're also often still perceived as tiebreakers.
In terms of company interest - most know about compers already. Some have less than favourable opinions. I remember last year a blog post appeared on a computer game site basically slating compers for "winning stuff and flogging it on eBay" - and that's a worry as it's not, from experience, a one person view.
Imo, doing a piece on winning prizes and selling them isn't a good advert to promoters and perhaps a slightly more favourable light on compers angle could be considered?
(For the record I've no probs with people selling stuff, it's just not a good idea to wave it from the roof tops).

I've done that before and when i recently won the lcd tv and oh was telling people i won it on this website on the internet they said things like 'oh yeah' you'll never see that then:mad: even though other oli winners where receiving their prizes, some people i've told have also said they cant be bothered wasting time entering comps they 'might' win.I've told quite a few people about this site and how I've won stuff. Most are quite pleased but someone (an aunt that I hadn't seen for years) said that she didn't believe that people actually won stuff - I never liked her anyway, she made me feel as if I'd lied  Lots of people are very negative and don't believe that they'll win so they don't even bother trying
