Payment on Account

Can HMRC have you make a payment on account if they insist that you do simple assessment & refuse to accept a self assessment.  I'm not there yet but it is getting closer every year.

No, there is no concept of POA with Simple Assessment.  Or, at the moment, interest or late payment penalties either.

A Simple Assessment bill should be paid by 31 January after the end of the tax year.  Or 3 months after it was issued if the Simple Assessment was issued within 3 months of 31 January (or after 31 January) after the end of the tax year it relates to.

Thank for that.  It is not an issue at the moment but I think it may be for 25/26.  The K code is already too large to deduct all the tax due, about half for 23/24, so it is getting close.  I confess I do not like simple assessment as it is not simple at all & would much rather do the self assessment I used to do as at least that was correct.  They can't even get my state pension right.
