I think with the role you are applying for, smart casual would be acceptable. Dress as smart as your wardrobe allows. Definitely not T-shirt and jeans. If you were trying for a job in an office where everyone was suited, I'd say differently, but as long as brush up well, and look presentable I'm sure you'll be just fine. (Good luck with the interview!)

I would agree, outfit tailored to the job.

Office jobs go over dressed unless you know 100% the culture is dress down (start-ups usually). I have heard of some people being rejected from start-ups for wearing a suit as "this doesn't fit our culture"

For a job like HGV Driver, I would say smart casual, smart trousers and a shirt, no jacket or tie would probably be perfect.

I was told ages ago that wearing jeans and a shirt was fine, I never felt comfortable wearing jeans to a interview, So I would always wear shirt and black trousers and tie, even though my job roles were out on the road meeting customer's. I like to show I can be smart just as much as I can look casual smart.

I think dressing smart for the role is best. I wouldn't expect a skip driver to wear a tie - health and safety risks - so decent trousers and plain shirt should do it.

All needs to be clean, and not look as if you slept in it. Clean shoes too!
