Universal credit and additional voluntary contributions

Does anyone have any experience of claiming universal credit and paying additional voluntary contributions?

    I thought that if you claimed UC you were supposed to get credits so wouldn't need to make voluntary contributions for those years ? (although I believe that at present there are issues with DWP passing the info on to HMRC for those credits to be applied to a persons record).

    is this not referring to AVCs as in private pension contributions not NI contributions?
  • Yes AVCs are private pension contributions. The question is if they are non taxable taken at source then is your income assessed as the figure after they've been taken.
