Universal credit and additional voluntary contributions

Does anyone have any experience of claiming universal credit and paying additional voluntary contributions?

I thought that if you claimed UC you were supposed to get credits so wouldn't need to make voluntary contributions for those years ? (although I believe that at present there are issues with DWP passing the info on to HMRC for those credits to be applied to a persons record).0

Yes AVCs are private pension contributions. The question is if they are non taxable taken at source then is your income assessed as the figure after they've been taken.0
