Just by chance I checked the London Gazette and friends bankruptcy still listed there.  AND a new notice for people to claim dividends complete a form and apply to the receiver.  Why would this happen now? And a court number.

I don't think things ever get deleted from the Gazette. Is he still on the insolvency register?

As for the new notice, you'll have to ask him.

The bankruptcy was thirty years ago.   And he's not been contacted

30 years ago all bankruptcies went through a court.

If he hasn't heard anything, and he's not showing as undischarged on the register then I don't think he has anything to worry about.

It'll likely be because an asset like a PPI claim has been received into the bankruptcy estate. As it's so old the OR will advertise a potential dividend for 28 days to see if anyone claims. The OR's fees were far lower back then so there may *possibly" be a surplus due to your friend.
