Essentially lost my job due to having a baby - where next?

You're quite right, I was considering changing careers a bit before baby arrived. The furthest I got with the CS was actually when I was about 3 months pregnant (I applied before I got pregnant, the interview date was about 4 months after the application closed). I've actually been in the workforce for 16 years
but yes, in this role for 7 roughly.
I suppose the problem is that I can't see me ever getting back into palliative care now, as it's no longer possible where we live and moving isn't feasible for us for at least 5 years or so. The longer you're out of it, the harder it is to get back in.£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0 -

Recognising that fact might take a lot of the angst and anger out of the situation, since it's clear that the baby/change to part time hours aren't the root causes of any change of direction. They are simply putting greater limits on the path you can choose to follow in the immediate future.
Did you enjoy any aspects of the job(s) you did before your current role - could they form any sort of basis for a future career?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0
