Right Address but wrong name

Just before Christmas I received a final demand posted to my correct home address but with someone else's name on it. They said pay up or we'll send the debt collectors in within 10 days. I called this well known internet provider and advised them that I had lived at my address for 20 years, and had never heard of this person, and could they kindly call off the dogs. A further 2 phone calls and an email, I think it's finally gotten through, but I'm worried as I have a good credit rating and I don't want it spoilt. How on earth do these people set up accounts without getting addresses verified? Anyway, is there anything else I can do, and how do I check (independently) that this mistake has been rectified?

Don't worry about it, it wouldn't be linked to your credit record in any way.
The only way to do so is if you are associated, for example a joint bank account...0 -

Ahhh... many thanks for the advice, it's just that I thought that debts can reflect on an address - hence my concern. The silly thing is, that the final demand was for £15.00 and odd pence. Anyway, thanks again for putting my mind at rest:cool:0
