Apology if this is on the wrong board . I have recently opened a Virgin Money ISA . Many years ago I had an unpaid loan with Nationwide which was written off due to long term sick /disabilty. If Nationwide were to take over Virgin Money could they come chasing to repay the loan from the ISA , or would it best to transfer ISA anyway , thanks in advance

How long ago was it that you were actually in contact with Nationwide or them with you?  If more than 6 years without any contact at all it may be time barred.

I haven't seen a date yet for the actual take over but don't think it will be instantaneous.  And even once it does happen they are likely to have 2 different systems that don't talk to each other.

So I would start off by checking your credit history to see if there's anything on there about Nationwide at all.

If it was written off for a specific reason - and you have it in writing that it was written off - then it was written off. Nobody will come chasing for money beyond that point, and if they did - you'd point them to the fact it was written off.
