Hi,
I don’t have much people to tell but I’m almost at the end of my debt journey. I have one final payment left of my DAS and that’s it - £32,000 paid!

I started looking at this forum 6 years ago and got some advice. I got help through stepchange and started a DAS. To cut a long story short I had the typical reasons for getting into debt - gambling, drinking, living above my means and making lots of uneducated financial decisions.
During the last few years I’ve worked hard to improve my income - stuck in at work and got promoted twice. I learned lots about personal finance and self excluded from all gambling sites. My credit rating has already started to improve and I have various pots for savings (holidays, house deposit etc. Recently started small monthly deposits into an investment account to hopefully give me a boost in a couple of years.

I just turned 30 last year and got abit down as I felt behind with my peers - didn’t own my house or drive a merc
but I’ve picked myself up and see the positives now and how far I’ve came - also have a pot for the merc haha.

To anyone debating how to get out a mess, the most important thing to do is take action - don’t wait. Get in touch with the charities out there that can help and you will quickly turn your situation around. Get some breathing space and rebuild your life.
