Applying for 15 h childcare but no payslips to prove income (paid from overseas)

Our toddler is approaching two years old, and so like many others, we are preparing to apply for the 15 hours of free childcare. Both my husband and I are residents in the UK. While my husband meets the employment requirements, earning above the minimum threshold from a UK-based company, I am employed by a company registered in Australia and receive my income from there.

If my Australian employer provides me with payslips (it's part-time but I just meet the minimum threshold), would we qualify for the 15 h childcare?

And if my Australian employer does not provide payslips (we haven't discussed this yet), could we still be eligible for childcare if, for instance, I provide bank statements as proof of income?

Thanks in advance. Useful links also very welcome, I've searched online but couldn't find anything.

You will not be asked for proof of income at the time of application, but if there is a discrepancy between your statement when you apply and what is reported to HMRC (via PAYE or self assessment) then I suspect it will be picked up*.

As stated by Bogof I presume you are registered to the UK tax authorities in some way (ie self assessment)? Remember this is required even if you don’t earn enough to pay tax.

*(on the income point, in my experience HMRC have been reasonably flexible. My wife is self employed and while the last few years she has been above the minimum threshold, this year she will likely fall below. I was afraid that we would lose the subsidy and I called HMRC who said not to worry, and it would only be an issue if this was a consistent issue)
