Stains on car from wd40

Hi,
I made a mistake of spraying some wd40 on my car door to try and remove a stain...I forgot to wipe it off and a few days later I now have streak marks from the wd40....does anyone have any idea how I can get those streak marks off? I just tried a bit of washing up liquid in warm water and it hasn't helped. Thanks.

Washing up liquid is not good for car paint.
Clean the whole door with proper car shampoo, then tar remover and finally use some polish over the whole area.

Don't use washing up liquid again. It contains a high degree of salt that will scour your paintwork if you rub it hard, and also helps your car rust if it manages to sit inside a panel somewhere and not get rinsed away - granted it takes years - but still - you want to do what you can to prevent your car from rusting. A decent polish might be enough to buff it off but it might take a bit of elbow grease. It likely won't just 'wipe off' with a gentle pass of a piece of kitchen towel soaked in car shampoo. It might be a good time anyway to polish the whole car rather than just the door.

Thanks both, appreciate the tips 🙏0

I've removed an oily sun lotion handprint from car paint when the owner had tried everything he could - a clay bar did it in seconds. Almost any surface contamination will come off with a clay bar.
