Maybe too late now, but worth noting you do not need a solicitor/lawyer for a Power of Attorney application.edward1993 said:Hi, thanks for the additional information. Liquidation, now I am very worried. It wasn't cheap, it was to deal with what happens to our kids if we die, our savings, setting powers of attorney, beneficiaries etc. Does that mean that was all for nothing? Think we spent around £650. But from what I can tell it was all nearly done, as I say they had sent it back for a correction, which I did and then posted back to them but that was the last I ever heard anything.
Edit: I just found we do have our Last Will & Testament thankfully. But not lasting powers of attorney, I think it was these that I had sent back for corrections in November. What would be the next steps? I contacted the insolvency firm, but presumably I need to go to a solicitor now with my will and to finish off the rest of it?
You can DIY it online for £84 an application.
It works fine , unlike online will writing which is not recommended.1 -
I too have been well and truly fleeced for £3400. I was supposed to receive an updated will, a family trust and power of attorney. That was January 2023.
I have left many messages but they are so busy conning other customers they can't answer right now. I have written, as advised by Citizens Advice, to have the service which I paid for provided to me. No response to this even though it was tracked and signed for at their end. Similarly a second letter asking for refund, no response.
Is an ADR the way forward?0 -
How did you pay? If on credit card, is there any merit in investigating reclaiming via that?Nuc99 said:I too have been well and truly fleeced for £3400. I was supposed to receive an updated will, a family trust and power of attorney. That was January 2023.

A family trust...what is that intended to achieve and are you absolutely sure it will achieve the promised objectives and that you actually need it? Few people do.Nuc99 said:I too have been well and truly fleeced for £3400. I was supposed to receive an updated will, a family trust and power of attorney. That was January 2023.

ADR has much to commend it. Otherwise https://www.gov.uk/make-court-claim-for-moneyGoogling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
Reading the OP's post I was most concerned with the information they might have shared rather than any fees they paid.
A will is a very personal document and you should be getting recommendations and meeting with solicitors on the high street, face to face. My Mum had a local legal firm do her will and they acted as an executor which took a lot of pressure off me and my brothers at a time when we were least able to cope. And so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.1
