Exchanging unwanted PS3 games???

What are my rights?

Had a couple of PS3 games given to me for Christmas by my girlfriend - one isn't exactly what I wanted and the other is a duplicate of my sisters present.

Can I return these sealed games without a receipt, and expect an exchange??

They were purchased from HMV and GAME.

You need proof of purchase, returning games can be difficult to start with due to piracy never mind without proof of purchase. If you cant get the PoP then you may end up accepting next to nothing as a trade in.

Try WH Smiths I've just exchanged a sealed 360 game there - Game would only give £7 trade in without a receipt. Exchanged for £39.00 game at Smiths.

They were purchased from HMV and GAME.

Will it cause offence to the purchaser of one of the gifts to ask if they have the receipt? Maybe they could take it back, and swap it, if they know what you want instead .. .

The one from Game should have a seal around it that would be broken if you opened the game. As long as that seal is intact then Game will excahnge without a receipt.

Not sure about HMV though.

... just wanted to point out that you have no 'rights' to a refund or exchange on anything unless it's faulty!

I got a refund today on a duplicate game from Game without receipt, was trying my luck really.

As was said already I usually have no problems in WHSmith with exchanging games

Both games are factory sealed and one is a GAME exclusive.

The receipts have been lost - probably in my girlfriends handbag :rotfl:
