The push towards electric vehicles (EVs) is likely to become more of a focus as we approach the 2030 ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars (for all the need-to-knows on EVs, see our Electric vehicles guide). I'm currently driving a SUV PHEV and I've been looking around for a new car (KIA PHEV), it's so difficult to get any plug-in hybrid new for under 40k - firstly why would this value not be revised by the Government as a car valued in 2017 at 40k looks way different than what you can currently get? Secondly, hybrid and electric vehicles are way more expensive (ie list price, insurance and road tax coming into play for vehicles over 40k) I see no way how there's any incentive to move everyone off diesel and petrol at any time.
