Amara said:Hi Marcon, thank you for your reply. I run my cleaning company for a long while, but there's a ceilling , how much you can earn. I did 30 hours per week, with driving and breaks it came to 40 hours. It was tiring and the only way to expand is to find a reliable staff. That was the biggest challenge. I guess I can try to find myslef some extra cleaning jobs to increase my income for now, but it's not a long-term solution.
A lot of jobs paying 35k plus will be for a 40hr week and will probably be challenging either mentally or physically
Looking for 35k a year working 30hrs a week and not wanting/expecting to be tired is perhaps a little optimistic0 -
Amara said:Hi Emmia. I applied for a few CS jobs. once accepted for an interview for a 30k job, but got rejected. I've always got rejected , when I applied for better paid vacancy.
Did you ask for any feedback on your unsuccessful interviews? The CS approach to interviewing is not really the same as other places. I've had to reject people who were probably good, as they didn't score well with their answers to the questions asked.
The jobs you see advertised are a small proportion of those available, vacancies are filled internally within departments, then across the CS then externally advertised.1 -

Will your employer pay for you to move up from just AAT? Ask if they'll pay for you to do ACCA or CIMA? A qualified or part qualified accountant should start moving up the pay scales0

Hi Penners324. My new job is not in accounting. It’s in finance and it’s mostly customer service. I left banking to go to accounting , but place turned out to be really bad. Now I’m back in finance , but still no accounting. Frustrating.0

Have you considered trying accounting again? It's well paid so you could probably match your current salary as an apprentice and then soon be earning much more. I know you had a bad experience, but it sounds like that was about the people and the specific workplace rather than accountancy itself?
