Solar install as part of ECO4 grant

That's my understanding too - yes, I'll get some clipping at mid-day during the summer months on sunny days, but that is more than offset by the extra generation outside of that. If the quote is reasonable for the extra panels, I'll definitely go for it.Any idea how I'd go about calculating the pay back period? I don't know how to tell a site like the JRC photovoltaic (PVGIS) that I have 4.35kWp but it's limited by a 3.6kW inverter. Any rules of thumb to help calculate the approx additional output from the two extra panels? Our green credentials: 12kW Samsung ASHP for heating, 7.2kWp Solar (South facing), Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5kWh), Net exporter1

I suspect the system as a whole will save you more than the cost of a couple of extra panels in the first year. Surely that's how to think of it, not how much extra was saved by adding 2 more panels?Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Hi
New to this and have just started reading through.
Any recommendations for companies that will do both a heat pump and panels on eco4?
Or any other threads/websites recommendations to read through.
Thanks in advance.0 -
Welcome to the forum.
It would help if you gave an idea of what part of the country you are in, as the installers don't all give national coverage.1 -

Thanks in advance. Most companies that run ECO4 installs do not do the work themselves, but rather coordinate the administration and subcontract out the individual elements of work. Switch Energy did our ECO4 install (not a recommendation), and subcontracted out the ASHP, insulation and solar installation to 3 separate subcontractors. Overall we were happy with the work carried out and the process. They appear to operate nationally, and you can research / read reviews online below:

I'm not sure how the work/funding is divvied up. My installation was funded by EDF, although I'd never been a customer of theirs.0

Yes, I think energy companies are obligated to perform a certain number of installs (improvements) based on the size of they customer base. Some may do this directly, for their own customers whereas others may subcontract out and take credit for that work so it doesn't really matter if the recipient of the grant is a customer of the energy company that takes the credit for that work, or not. At least, that's my superficial understanding. So it all flows through the energy companies.Netexporter said:I'm not sure how the work/funding is divvied up. Until I got the letter, telling me who had funded the job, I's just assumed the levies went into one big ECO4 fund so, in effect, all participating suppliers funded it.0

I don't think I ever received anything like that, so no clue which of the big energy companies ours may have been attributed to.Netexporter said:Until I got the letter, telling me who had funded the job, I's just assumed the levies went into one big ECO4 fund so, in effect, all participating suppliers funded it.
