Help to Buy arrears

I received an arrears notice from Help To Buy on 31 January 24 which appears to be just over 4 months of missed payments.
I have an active direct debit set up but no payment has been requested since September 23. In June I received a letter saying my direct debit payment details are changing and I don’t need to do anything, the DD was cancelled and a new one set up. Payment was taken on the new DD for 2 months then stopped.
I queried this twice with customer services and they kept saying the DD was cancelled and a bank or customer can cancel at any time, implying they did not cancel it (despite me saying that it is still active and sending proof). The bank confirmed HTB cancelled the first DD and set up a new one.
I’ve now complained as not only is it NOT my fault they failed to take payment, but they waited 4 months to tell me I missed a payment, forcing me into more debt and have not told me what the arrears relate to (my monthly payment does not multiply into the total arrears value).
Anyone else have similar issues?

Why are you forced into more debt? Just pay off the arrears with the money that wasn't taken. It's not extra money you need to find, just the money you were already expecting to pay.FionaT2607 said:I’ve now complained as not only is it NOT my fault they failed to take payment, but they waited 4 months to tell me I missed a payment, forcing me into more debt
If you have a query over the sum, ask them to break it down.2 -
I wasn’t aware they hadn’t taken payment ( I do normally check my accounts but have had quite a difficult few months so didn’t check). I can pay it, but what if I couldn’t? It’s not my fault they are incapable of taking payment and they are saying I cancelled the DD! Just out of principle I will fight this. They haven’t acknowledged any responsibility for thisMorningcoffeeIV said:

You would have had to agree a repayment plan. Or ultimately sell the house.FionaT2607 said:

Fight what? If they made a mistake they made a mistake (And it might not have been them. It could be a banking issue) It happens and was compounded by the fact that you didn't check your bank account. The money is due so that is not in question so what, other than an apology , are you expecting the outcome to be?FionaT2607 said:

Yea, I want them to apologise for the inconvenience. Also to remove interest charges and confirm they haven’t informed credit reference agencies for their incompetence! Up until now they are blaming me for not paying and not accepting any responsibility! Have a google and see how many others were impacted a few years ago by their incompetenceMEM62 said:
