Settle Green Deal Loan with no Idea who the provider is?
Hi
We recently down-sized and purchased a house which has solar panels fitted via the Green Deal scheme.
The Seller provided some details of the loan via his solicitor which included a quoted settlement fee and we agreed that he would reduce the sale price by 50% of the quoted fee and we would then clear the debt after completion and that way we would have the benefit of the FIT ourselves and not some finance company.
However now that we are in the property I have tried to contact the company detailed in the documents and the numbers provided are invalid and looking at companies house the company is no longer trading. (There are similar styled companies trading from the address but not the one that did this transaction and the new company knows nothing of our deal it seems)
I have looked at the government Green Deal pages on the .gov website but find nothing that seems to help.
All I want to do is pay off the finance so I don't have this hanging on for anther 15 or so years. Is there anyway I can track down who does own this debt bearing in mind I can provide the plan ID number etc?
thanks

As far as I am aware Green Deal Loans were repaid via your electricity bill, the loan is attached to the property, not any individual owner, so I would start by looking there.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. taSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
