My son bought a game today from Woolies (Gears of War). He didn't notice until he got home that there was no cellophane wrapper on it. I think that every other game he's got has had a wrapper on. He took the disc out of the packet and it looks like it's been played (there are some circular marks on it). He says you should also get a 48hr Live Trial with it, but there's nothing in the box. It also looks like there's been a sticker taken off the front of the box too. It keeps freezing as well. He only got his xbox in November and it's been working fine - all other games work fine too. We're going back tomorrow. I just hope they believe us.
So, are the xbox 360 games usually sealed?

lots of places remove/check the discs so have them unwrapped.
however it could be a returned game.if theres no logo on the box then you have little recourse on the trial.
however i usually ask for a sealed copy if the copy they have is unsealed(and sealed are available)0 -
Hi in Asda the games are not wrapped up. when you go the tills to pay now they put in the disc there. Perhaps this is because alot of games were going missing.0

In our local Woolworths they only put dummy boxes on the shopfloor. The real games and dvd's are on shelves behind the tills.
He's not too bothered about the 48hr trial, as he already has a years subscription to xbox live.0 -
In our Woolies they keep the discs (just the discs not the cases) behind the counter in folders in large drawers, and the empty cases on the shop floor.
A removed sticker could just have been a special deal that ended, something like that.
However if its freezing its faulty and you should take it back?0 -
There are definitely some faint circular marks on the disc. He noticed it in the car after we came out of the shop. Unfortunately we had just ran into the shop 15 minutes before it closed so we couldn't go back there and then. I'm going back with it tomorrow morning.0

We once had a ps2 game that was 'warpped'. It was shrunk wrapped and obviously brand new when we got it.However it kept freezing so we took it back to argos and they gave us a replacement that worked perfectly.
Take it back and just explain that it must be faulty.....then make sure that you inspect the replacement before you leave the shop (assuming that it will be unwrapped too)

Are the rings concentric around the disc? It mat just be a manufacturing pattern on the disc. Freezing games may also likely be a problem with the software not the disc it's on. You should search about the game on the internet to see if it has any known problems for freezing up.

The rings are actually more like arcs, and they're off centre. And not all the way round the disc.
I Googled the game and apparently it is prone to freezing. Maybe someone else has bought the game, had it freeze and they've taken it back? The arcs/curves/rings don't look normal to me. I also know that discs can get damaged if someone moves their xbox when there's a disc in it. Everything else is playing fine. Ds bought his elite last month, and has far as we know it has the new chipset and BenQ drive and it's been playing perfectly.

We had no problem exchanging it for a sealed copy today.0
