Hello all, I'm totally new to this thread and am wondering if this is something I could attempt, but I have one main question - are cashback payments, vouchers and money for clicks classed as income for tax purposes? Thank you for any adviceI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Hi nykmedia,
Your tax question .... cashback from purchases I would say is not classed as income and I am more or less certain that vouchers earned from opinion sites are exempt from tax (if you sell them on ebay then I assume thats income). Also any proceeds from gambling sites are tax free I think as well so matched betting would logically be exempt. Otherwise any direct earnings (ie paid into your bank account) from clicks would be classed as income along with any direct earnings from opinion sites (I assume some pay in vouchers to avoid tax?). I would really only worry about the monies paid into your bank account whilst making sure that you have an explanation for it. Check with HMRC what you are supposed to declare (don't mess with the taxman!!)

PS I am sure there is another thread somewhere on MSE discussing this sort of issue.Grocery Challenge 2008

Thanks jpe20, I'm already registered as self-employed and wasn't too sure if you were allowed to claim money from cashback sites straight into a personal account rather than a business one. My affiliate money, cash for clicks, eBid & eBay sales have to go into the business one. Sorry to have interupted the flow
Off in search of the appropriate thread now.

Right, well today I had £16.55 credited to my bank from Ciao. I'd asked for the payment a while ago and forgotten about it, so I've added that to my total. Still struggling but at least it's a slight improvement. Was going to add click throughs but I've lost where I'm up to and on quidco shopping.com and kelkoo have plummeted their cashback money
I've put a load of stuff on ebay, which will help the total but I probably won't meet the challenge unless the month ends around now!!!!!!!!!!!!Let's start again (really need a kick up the bum now) :wall:Virgin CC £9793.710 -
