If Octopus was public company, I'd buy stock. This is exactly what the EV market needs (Hopefully more EVs will be approved soon)!
-  10 x 400w LG + 6 x 550W SHARP BiFacial Panels + SE 3680 HD Wave Inverter + SE Optimizers. SE London.
-  Triple aspect. (22% ENE/ 33% SSE/ 45% WSW)
-  Viessmann 200-W on Advanced Weather Comp. (the most efficient gas boiler sold)

Feel free to DM me if I can help with any energy saving!

Does anyone know if you need a smart meter installed to use Octopus? Also are they compatible with EDF energy smart meters

You need a smart meter to use any TOU tariffs. Is your EDF supplied meter SMETS1 or SMETS2? (If it was fitted in the past 2 years it will almost certainly be SMETS2, which will be fine with Octopus). Most SMETS1 meters have been upgraded to essentially SMETS2 capability but there are some exceptions.

I find these EV charging only tariffs seem like a regressive step.  I use V2H to timeshift cheap night rate electricity to daytime usage and daytime usage to the night window.  This and the Ovo tariff that only give cheap power to the EV rather than all household usage would cost us much more overall.
    I think....

Octopus go and intelligent go give cheap rate electricity to the whole house.  They do not meter the EV supply.  Fill your boots! I have a battery on order and plan to do just that.
    4.7kwp PV split equally N and S 20° 2016.
    Givenergy AIO (2024)
    Seat Mii electric (2021).  MG4 Trophy (2024).

Vaillant aroTHERM plus 5kW ASHP (2025)
    Gas supply capped (2025)

Indeed,  that's what I've done for a couple of years now.
Charge ev, charge batteries and heat water tanks on the overnight tarrif.
Ev only tarrifs like ovo's would not work for me

I'd been thinking about v2g rather than batteries (have solar, don't have a battery or EV at current time)

If I read this right I'd need to apply for a G99 over G98, can't obtain a suitable charger as no longer available, switch from Octopus Agile, and be restricted to a Leaf (van and 4x4/SUV not options) whereas I thought Hyundai/Kia were making strides in this area. So good idea, but 1 showstopper and other niggles that I'd rather avoid

Oh well, back to contemplating options

It's a bit limited at the moment, but a lot of Chinese and Korean EVs are now coming V2G ready. They just need software alterations to suit whatever standard is finally agreed, beyond the existing Chademo protocol.
