Flexible working and incorrect salary

Options
I’m currently on maternity leave and due to return to work in a couple of months.

I put in a flexible working request to reduce my hours down from 37.5 to 34.5.
Had the necessary meeting with my boss, who agreed to the hours, and the acceptance letter was sent to me to be signed.

The letter stated a salary circa £22k.

Two days later I received another letter to sign which included a covering letter advising that my salary had been calculated incorrectly and so I need to sign the letter again.

The new letter states a lower salary circa £21k

My question is whether I can decline this second salary and my employer has to accept the first salary as it was their error.

'circa' means in the region of, approximately, so I don't think you will get anywhere arguing on that basis as there is no error.  There's nothing to stop you asking for the higher figure.

Had you already worked out what the reduction would equate too?  Was this £21k? or did you get £22k or somewhere inbetween?
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Generally no, they can correct any mistake. So if £21K is the correct proportion of your former full time salary then that is what it should be. If the sums are wrong then it should be adjusted to the correct figure.

Multiply your current salary by 0.92 (i.e. 34.5/37.5). What number do you get?
