I closed my monzo bank a week ago with £0 - wasn't overdrawn - I don't have an overdraft and then i am receiving an email and text message today to say my account is NOW £69 overdrawn and i have to pay back right away?
The account is closed tho and was £0 balance at the time - do i have to pay this back as i no longer have the account

was there a payment that hadn't hit the account yet? So it was "debited" after you closed the account?

apparently they refunded me for a transaction for an app purchase that renewed and should not have. but the app also refunded me so they want that money back - but they only have seen it now - but at the time there was zero balance and no overdraft and i owed nothing and i asked the account to be closed and they closed it for me0

can you pay them back from somewhere else - you have had the money twice0

You'd rather go to court for undue enrichment?
You should have dealt with it when you realised you'd got two refund for the same payment. Legally the two companies would have up to 6 years to claim the money back from you and get a CCJ on your record.
You understand where the cost comes from, you agree you owe it, repay it.0 -
I think it will save a lot of hassle in the long run if you just pay it back. You've had the money twice. Having an albeit closed bank account trailing an unpaid £ 69 "overdraft" has the potential to trash your credit file.
I think the fact the account is closed is irrelevant, If there had been a credit to your account after it closed then I'm sure you would expect to receive it.

As simple as that.1 -
If you continue to ignore this, Monzo will just send your account to debt collection.
The collector will send a few letters, and go through standard collection activity with you, but the recompense on a debt this small makes it very unattractive to waste much time on.
Its unlikely to be referred for legal action, but I have seen claims for as little as £35, so you can never say never.
Monzo may report this to your credit file, thus rewarding you with 6 years bad credit, for a default for a paltry £69 quid, so it`s your decision what to do.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Let's look at it this way - if you had paid for the app twice because Monzo had sent a direct debit out twice, would you be expecting to get back the second payment as it was their error? In this case, it is YOU who owe the second payment back, so yes, just get it sorted. I'd suggest that the cost to you down the line of getting a default marker on your credit file unnecessarily will be potentially far higher.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
