What's the best energy efficient gas or electric cooker currently in the market?

Currently looking to get a new freestanding cooker, I had a BUSH gas cooker that was available where I'm renting and its oven stopped working after 2 years. now on the search for a new cooker.

What's the best energy efficient freestanding gas or electric cooker currently in the market? something not too expensive but is a great value to purchase.

And is it better to opt for an electric cooker instead of a gas cooker?

I bought some appliances from AO before and the experience wasn't that good, not sure there the only site with good prices or if there is a better or more valuable site out there, if you know any please share

Your recommendation/advice would be really appreciated.

Gas cookers definitely cheaper to run, approx 1/3 the cost of electricity, but be careful to use the correct size of pan for the burner. Alot of heat (and money) can be wasted up the side of the pan.

Electric would be cleaner, But the current oven is likely an easy fix, a blocked jet? And its all the Landlords responsibility to fix or replace!

If you choose to buy electric, an induction hob is more energy efficient than other types with a ring (which is either covered by a metal plate or a ceramic top).

So you want "efficient? or cheaper? Electric will be more efficient but will be more expensive given the unit price for electric is so much higher than gas that it offsets the efficiency difference. Gas are also cheaper to repair hobs than induction should something go wrong in the future and personally wouldn't consider any other form of electric hob. 

If its a rental are you or the landlord responsible for replacing the cooker?

Getting an induction hob in my kitchen is the best thing I've done. Bought my niece one when she moved in to her first home (she was brought up on gas). So much easier to keep clean, very easy to control, and safer all round. OK, you do need to be careful when buying new saucepans as not all will work on induction.

Loving my new induction range cooker, got it a month ago and it's simple to use and so much easier to clean than the gas. Now all ready for ASHP fitting later this year.
