British Gas Price Promise Tariff

Looks like an option to consider, although Standing Charges appear very high compared to other options......

They are also looking for people to fix for 15 months, but only guarantee to beat the current/next Price Cap.

This is my personal projection, interested in people's thoughts, as those Standing Charges are making me think twice.

  • Standing Charges are maybe £65/year more than the price cap by themselves.

Price cap is expected to be around £1,620 on average from 1st April, which is already lower than this.

Although they may put out a cheaper fixed tariff after this, you've got to be keeping your eye out for it swap over. But you're essentially locked into being with BG for 15 months and being on whatever prices they decide to do.

Basically a tariff to try and mug people off and hope that most don't bother moving tariffs once they take up the first fix.

    The info states:

If the Price Cap due to be announced on February 23rd 2024 is lower than this tariff,
we'll adjust your unit rates and standing charges so that your annual energy costs from 1 April 2024 will
be at least £1 per fuel lower than they would have been if based on the April 2024 Price Cap. Further
changes to the Price Cap rates after April 2024 will not affect the unit rates and standing charges of this
tariff. Apart from any changes made following the April 2024 Price Cap, the unit rates and standing
charges will stay the same for the entire duration of the tariff unless you change your tariff.

Do you take this to mean, in April, the unit costs per fuel will be £1 cheaper than the price cap or the annual costs per fuel £1 cheaper? If the former, seems like a very good offer
