Belt loops for the sewing challenged?

I’m hoping that when I shorten them, there will be enough material to use that matches.
Can anyone point me in the direction of idiots guides as to the best way to make and add them.
Or an easier alternative, which I am quite happy to consider.
just to be awkward, I prefer written instructions and diagrams to watching YouTube videos, as a starting point.

Looks like it'll have to be a thin belt, I assume you don't have a sewing machine?
Cut strips one and a half times length of your waist band, (you could times that by number of loops you want and stitch it as one and cut after sewing) fold in half lengthwise and stitch the long edge, if you are hand sewing you'll need to use very small secure stitches close together, turn it inside out, press and turn the edges inside the openings and stitch to the trousers with a small fold under each end. Hope that makes sense!"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
Hands up another sewingly challenged!!! I wouldn't be attempting loops at all. But as someone with an ample bottom and a relatively small waist something often needs to be done.
So what I do is make a cut on the inside of the waist band just behind the side seam on both sides. Then I thread a piece of flat elastic all the way around the back of the trousers inside the waist band. Pull it a bit tight so that you know that the band will be snug but not overly tight and do a lot of stitching through the band at each end of the elastic. Preferably just behind the place where you've made the cut. When you know that both ends are secure and the elastic is deployed evenly you might want to put a couple more stitches at least mid back or at other suitable intervals so the trousers don't pull too far one way or the other.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I do have a sewing machine, but that’s been more for cushion covers and things rather than clothes.I always worry about the edges of the material fraying when I’m doing more fiddly things. When I’m turning up trousers I find it just as easy to hand sew rather than faffing around getting the machine out and trying to remember how to set it up.But I do probably need to practice using it more, because then it will be less of a faff because I know what I’m doing. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

It would be possible to do thread loops if you have some strong thread (or button thread)
Make loops slightly looser than the width of the waistband. Three thicknesses? then buttonhole /blanket stitch along the loop. No cutting of fabric needed.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Have you got some old trousers that you could cut the loops off in say black so the colour doesn’t clash and then use a black belt?1
