First Anniversary First Post Combo Breaker

I said yes to a dress yesterday afternoon and because my wedding isn’t until July 2025, I agreed to pay in instalments so that the dress doesn’t come in too early.

As soon as I got home I started regretting my choice and emailed them asking if I could cancel my order or if they could hold the order. They replied today already claiming that they placed the order.

For a start I don’t understand that if they said my paying by instalments would delay it being made.

Also, the contact does indeed have no cooling off periodically. Yes I’m stupid for signing it without reading it but do I have any way of getting this cancelled without having to pay for the whole dress?

I don’t care about losing the first instalment that I paid.

Instore purchases don’t have cooling off periods.
Would they allow you to put the money towards a different gown?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I’ve asked for proof of order because they claim they submitted the order yesterday.

My wedding isn’t until July 2025 so I asked if I could put a deposit down and then the dress be delayed by the designer for production as I don’t want to receive it months and months in advance. She said the way to do that is by paying in instalments which I said ok that’s fine.

I’m not sure you’ve got much of a leg to stand on here. If there’s nothing wrong with what you’ve ordered, then you are relying on the shop’s goodwill.
Consumer rights tend not to cover instore buyers remorse.

If they can’t prove they submitted the order yesterday could I have an argument?

im really just happy to list my first instalment payment tbh.

They haven’t offered me the option of putting it towards another dress but I could ask i guess

I suspect it doesn't matter whether they have actually ordered the dress or not - it looks fairly clear that ordering with them is committing you.
Reckon it is worth asking about putting the money to a different dress - they may be helpful

That's the most badly written contract I have ever seen. Just reading that alone would put me off ordering from them.
