I am just tidying out my baking tins cupboard. I have come across a heart shaped silicone cake mould which I picked up in an Aldi sale one year for 20p. I thought it would be nice to make OH a cake. I have never used silicone moulds before. Do I need to grease it like a cake tin? Is the cooking time/ temperature the same? Any tips welcome.

I don't grease mine- use them in my Remoska. However mine are circular not shaped so maybe grease slightly at inward point?
Fairly sure the cooking time will be the same. Stand on a baking tray for stability.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I have little loaf pans and have never greased them and not had any problems getting things out. In fact I find that even after being very soapily washed they still have a slight greasy feel to them. I beg to differ...if you have a detailed silicone pan, I would advise greasing it because you will lose the definition of the pattern otherwise. Obviously not a big deal if its not decorative, I just happen to like sharp edges on my bakes! No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.2 -
The only thing that has been a problem in mine was crustless quiches. That took some cleaning. But everything else didnt need any greasing. I have see others using the oil sprays.
