Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.
It's a terrible start here, lashing rain and cold. What a day.
I've got various jobs planned for today, whether I actually do them is another matter! I find that I'm too easily distracted, must try harder!
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, whatever you are up to.
Take care folks.11 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc.
Stay distracted Scarlet, it's much more fun!
Slight drama at work yesterday but nothing too bad, what a week it's been. Thank goodness it's half term next week and we get a couple of days off!
Friday again, I'll go and visit my pal with a poorly knee after work and fill her in on the week's goings on, she'll be glad she's off.
Hope everyone is well or recovering, take care. XX10 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Back to another tossy turny night last night grr.
Well we got the snow yesterday and boy did we get it. After a few flurries it arrived with a vengeance from mid morning and by lunch time our road into town was snowbound and the bus had stopped coming up. It didn't resume again last night, but, despite the main road down still not looking too clever, it's supposed to resume service this morning. It all looks very pretty and Christmas card worthy from inside looking out but it's the disruption it causes that's the nightmare. My DF lives down the bottom and the snow they got didn't settle too much so she couldn't believe it when I sent a photo of what we had up here.
The bad news continues here, this time for the extended family. One of my SIL (My Bob's elder sister) has been diagnosed with bowel cancer. She is 71. Despite symptoms for a while she has put off seeing her doctor and it's not sounding too good for her. She seems positive whatever the outcome is.
Well it's that day again so the Friday Tidy beckons once more. What excitement.
Have a good day if you can all and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, fed up or worried. Take care all and be safe whatever weather you are having. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Morning all. What a wind we had last night, strangely it was all at the back of the house this time, something I've rarely experienced before. It's still blowing now though not as noisily as overnight. Still, no frost this morning.Yesterday had a bit of a piggy day. I had my nails redone and this time really like them. The problem before was that the BLIAB was wonderful but I hated even the most natural colour (Dolly). This time I asked for a clear varnish, a rare thing, so the young woman had to root around her cupboard. I was so pleased when she found a bottle of it. Now I'm doubly happy as my own nails were looking so much better too. After that I took away my rubbish abs did a small shop. The local garage had in meat from the buffalo farm so I picked up a packet of sausages and a little pudding made by a local woman. The garage tries hard to get in locally produced food so I like to support them when I can.Today I'll be stripping the bed, putting on clean linen, washing and drying the stripped stuff and watching a bit of TV.
@TA - so much snow! I hope you are warm there.@Camelot - you'll be needing a hard hat soon. Lock your office door.Take care folks.8 -
Morning everyone
Wet and windy here yet again.
TA - it's nice to look out the window at snow if you don't have to go out in it.
Friday again so I'll go down to mam and dads this morning to do his banking and then get the bus straight down to work.
DD is working this weekend so I'll pick little one up from school and bring her up here. She's staying tonight and tomorrow night but will go home with DD for a few hours tomorrow afternoon. She's excellent company and very good at finding something to do, so she's easy looked after. Well she'd be easier without all the medical attention she needs, but that's just part of who she is.
Right I'm going to get on. Hope everyone has a good day - stay safe if you have snow x10 -
Morning all
Its blowing a hooley here and fine rain not really a day to be out but I have an electrolysis appointment this morning and then I will get home and take little dog out, big pup is on lead walks only for two weeks so DD will take her for a walk around the block.
I have put a wash on this morning and there is another to do after they will have to be hung on the airer in front of the fire. I need to have a quick tidy before I go out and run the hoover round.
TA I am very envious of your snow, and sorry to hear about your SIL xx
New DW arrives tomorrow between 7-11 am what’s the betting it arrives at 7 ? I can’t wait to get it though as I am sick of washing up by hand.
Have good days all and take care xx10 -
Morning all. Quiet on the weather front atm although the rain yesterday was ghastly and never ending.
NMLC: I'm in awe of all your early starts for work. I'd be slumped over my desk by lunchtime.
Red Ruby: hated being without a dishwasher and things never seemed to be quite so clean when washing up by hand.
Camelot: another day, another drama. Down here we get a full week for half term, although as a child we only had two or three days.
Today we have the cleaner coming so I'll be making myself scarce for a while. I might go over to Ikea as I picked up a wooden meccano type set in the charity shop for £2 yesterday but need a box to put it in. Plus I need to update my family card as it's ancient and doesn't have a scan facility on it.
I saw the friend who cancelled lunch yesterday and she gave me a tub of her special spiced fruits, so we'll be eating that today. I've also now got a form to fill out and return regarding being added to my dance sides bank account as assistant Treasurer so hope I do that correctly.
Good wishes all round.8 -
Hello all, I thought I'd have to get the Ark out last night as the rain was torrential and didn't stop all day and then all through the night. It's still raining this morning but it's not so hard now.
Yesterday I did some hoovering downstairs as we'd had crusty bread and the crumbs were everywhere ! Not sure what is happening today but if it dries up a bit I want to go to the meat van as Mr Fix It has run out of black pudding, shock horror 😲 I'll probably have a lot more than that in my bag by the time I've finished !
RedRuby if it were me I would be the last on the list. Happy no washing up day !
TA sorry to read about DSiL. I think a lot of people are guilty of putting medical things off in the hope they will right themselves.
Take care, stay safe and warm. Hugs to the poorly ones, animals and those recuperating.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently9 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @nmlc x
It’s been a bit tricky to post this week as my days have been getting away from me. Thanks for the shoutout @IzzyBee x
Work fairly quiet today as boss is off on bereavement leave and other boss is at another site. I have a few bits a bobs to work through. Did plan to go for an early run but the forecast said 70% chance of rain so thought better of it - will try on Sunday morning instead.
I need to organise a food shop for the weekend as I’m out all day tomorrow – first in London for lunch with some ex-work colleagues, then driving down to see Mum and DSis, and I need to collect something I’ve had framed and they don’t open on Sundays.
Dinner tonight is burger in a bowl – a SW favourite. Need to shop for iceberg lettuce at lunchtime plus some milk as we’re running low at home.
We watched Ben Fogle last night – young couple caretaking Great Blasket off the West coast of Ireland for 6 months. We both said we could just about manage that without electricity and getting a divorce!
Your workplace sounds crazy @camelot1001 – hope today passes without issue!
OOOH snow @TravellingAbuela – stay home and enjoy the view x and sorry to hear about your SIL’s diagnosis – let’s hope she can get some treatment x
Glad you are happy with your nails @Gers. Mine are currently ‘fairytale’ which is a pale glittery colour and very pretty.
Have a good day everyone,
Coxy

Morning all. Yes, it's raining! But not snowing, boo...Nothing much today, shred the meat for the ragu, don't know what else. I cooked quite a lot yesterday [fitted in some flapjacks too] so there's nothing to cook, maybe go out briefly thi morning for some cat crack and potatoes before this afternoons injection. We'll see if it helps because it is hurting today after standing on it so long yesterday. And I've just discovered I've bleached my brand new very black jeans during my fit of cleaning last week...Better get the permanent marker out then...Ruby, how is big pup now? He had a bad knee didn't he? nanny, spot on about the medical stuff. Also add in scared and can't be bothered, don't want to trouble anyone, didn't think it was that serious and that's the gamut. People are strange [ thank you Jim Morrison] . Gers, stay warm and dry! buffalo sausages sound nice. Take care all, or not, it's up to youNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi8
