Courage Limited / Scottish & Newcastle Pension - Capita unable to find transferred out information

I recently found out from HMRC that I have a defined benefits / deferred pension from Courage Employees Pension Fund from 1986-7 with Standard Life. . Courage was bought by Scottish & Newcastle group (S&N) in 1995 and 2008 and appointed Capita as administrator. In 2008 S&N was taken over by Heineken NV who appointed Capita as it's legacy deferred benefit pension scheme in 2013. I had no updates from Courage regarding the pension at or after I was made redundant by the takeover. I have no files from Standard Life so I doubt if they provided it as I have all of my other pension papers going back to the early 1980s.
Capita managed to verifiy my details and told me the value in 2013 and that it was transferred out in 2013 - the same year that Heineken NV aquired S&N group. They say they don't have a record of where this was transferred. I asked them to check the archives files.
The Admin team told me that Mercer were the previous
administrator and, that my pension fund was deferred and that it had been transferred (paid out value £5k) on 8 August 1989.
The Service Centre staff say there's a 2013 transfer date but the Admin team can’t even see this with thier greater access. I'm going to ask for a copy of all of my data from Capita.
The other question is can my pension be transferred out without my knowledge?
I'd be everso grateful if anyone has any suggestions or background in Courage or S&N pensions.
Thanks, Angie

Is there any possibility that it was transferred into a S32 buyout policy with one of the big insurers?
Example

Was this your only DB pension?
It is very likely that the pension was contracted out of SERPS,
Are you still under State Pension Age?
Is a COPE shown on your State Pension Forecast?

Have a look at https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6267734/is-there-a-really-detailed-online-method-to-check-nics/p1
and see the second post in that thread (mine on 15 May 2021 at 2.12 pm). Ask for your NI record for the tax years 1985 to 2015 (probably a year or so wider than needed, but no matter). Then have a look at the top of the third page and read my post of 3 June 2021 to see why it might help you, assuming your Courage scheme was contracted out - and I'd lay money on it having been contracted out!
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1 -

The same happened 12 years later. So I think Capita service team staff have not been trained to understand what the transfer out status means.0 -
