Help with salary amount calculation.

I have recently seen a job vacancy and salary is advertised as;
Salary: £36,420 (pro rate from 37 hours)
Working hours: 48 per week

I am assuming ‘pro rate’ may be a typo and is suppose to be pro rata.

I am just wondering what the annual salary would be for the job? Is it £36,420 or is it more because you are doing 48 hours per week and not 37.

Thank you

    It entirely depends on how that recruiter phrases things.
    The salary could be £36,420 for 48 hours because it has already been pro-rated up from £28,074 for 37 hours.
    The salary could be £47,248 for 48 hours because they haven't done the pro-rata calculation.
    Only the recruiter can tell you for certain.

    Or it might not be a typo and it's an instruction - ie you need to pro rate to reflect the increased working hours. It's certainly ambiguous and you'd need to check with whoever placed the advertisment, although perhaps you can tell from the type of job/requirements in terms of qualifications and experience whether it is a £28K a year job (which is what it would be with the more usual 37 hours).
    Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
