Council tax bills are set to increase by 5% for millions of people in England from 1 April, as the Government has confirmed that this is the maximum rise most local authorities will be able to implement. It means someone with a typical band D bill would pay around £100 more a year – though the exact rises in each area are yet to be confirmed.
