EBAY CHARGES - HELP PLEASE
WORZ54
My daughter put a ring of mine on ebay with a reserve attached to it, I didn't know she had done this and as soon as I realised I ended the auction. The ring is still in my possession as it didn't sell and now I am being chased for £125 in fees, a company called DRS are sending me text messages, is this enforceable as I didn't agree to the terms ?

Pay the charge and then take the money off your daughter in less pocket money, be an important life lesson.1

am pretty sure you (or your daughter) will have to pay up
either she agreed to the Ts&Cs or you gave her your login and hence it is yours to pay0 -
She logged onto my laptop which has saved passwords via google, so no I didnt give her my password. What im interested in is understanding contract enforcement0

strongly suspect that if it is your account, logged into with your password on your computer (that wasn't password protected) then the assumption by EBAY would be that it was your listing -WORZ54 said:She logged onto my laptop which has saved passwords via google, so no I didnt give her my password. Disagree with all the above - it was not your daughter's ring to sell. You, the owner of the ring, did not enter into any contract. I'd dispute this all the way, (oh, and ground your daughter). How old is she btw?
She accessed your information without your consent - that does not make you liable. BiB xDF

Thanks BiB, that's my take on it too, but I'm no contract law expert. My daughter has special needs and doesn't understand the gravity of what she has done0

Hi @WORZ54 - then definitely escalate on those grounds. Make an official complaint if necessary. BiB xDF

Going back a step or two, what are the fees for and who are they owed to? EBay, presumably? The only way any debt is enforceable is if they take you to court for it and win. So for starters I’d be blocking their texts and insisting that any communication is in writing. You may well find that they are all bluster and it doesn’t go any further, but you may also find that you lose your eBay accounts for good and possibly any PayPal, one as well. Which may or may not matter to you. There used to be a phone number where you could get someone sensible in Ireland for eBay who you might get more sense out of. If this is a debt to eBay, then it might be worthwhile posting on the eBay specific board. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
On a practical level, create a separate user on your laptop for your daughter to use, and password protect your own section.0
