Hello,
I live in Swansea, my son is 10 yrs old and has mild autism. He needs to go to school by bus and the mother needs to bring him school and back, he takes 2 bus to go and 2 bus back. I obtained a free bus pass based on his disability. However the mother brings him to school and then need to go back alone and same she goes alone to pick him. This cost me 80 pound a month and 800 a year. I asked to the local council and to the bus company if they can refund or waive this cost as the council assigned my son to a school out of the catchment area. They declined as they say they do not assist adults. There is any way I can slash this cost? I dont have a car and my wages at the end of the month leave me with 200 pounds, i receive universal credit and waiting since 2 months a decision from DWP regard my son DLA.

It seems surprising that there is no support for you. Have you asked the school, as there must be other parents in a similar position? The Carers' Association may also be able to help and they have a Welsh sectionGood luck!

Could you use a Swansea PlusBus as that reduce monthly cost to £46

Let's Be Careful Out There0 -
It clearly states that PlusBus is an add-on for Rail travel.
Also, who would want to risk buying this ticket when they never state the precise boundaries of its validity?0 -
The child may qualify for free school transport due to disability. This will be a mini bus or a taxi. My son has always been on a mini bus.
