Tax return: Child benefit confusion?

Options
Hi, I'm having trouble with the child benefit section in my tax return. Withing the period 6 April 2022 to 5 April 2023 my partner noted down 12 payments. The return calculated a higher amount, stating there should be 13 payments? There was a payment on 3rd April 2022 that I did not include as it was before the start of the 2022 tax year (6th) though would this still count?

  • Child Benefit is paid 4 weekly.

Have you definitely counted up correctly?
  • 3rd April 2022 was a Sunday. Are you sure?

My partner gave me the figures :D she said it could have been in the week though was paid in before the 6 April 22. I'll have a check myself tomorrow. Always a pain when it's not my account. Though would only payments made within the tax year count? So I should have had 13 payments from 6 April 22 to 5 April 23? Nothing before or after would count for that year?

She left out one of the months! So it is actually 13 payments. Though it is still less then what the self assessment calculated. They want me to put a reason why, but I have no idea? That's what the payments total up to. Any idea why it could be less? There was one month where the payment was much lower than the usual. Not sure why that would be.
  • Did you have a newborn in the year?
