Just take it back and see how you go. arm your self with knowledge of the sales of goods act and see how it goes.

Im not sure exactly why it would no longer display as you had it before unless settings in the new update have reverted settings back to defaults, I would check that the settings are as you prefer them before going to halfords.

I know they don't like takeing returns on sat nav kit, and that you did the update it is sort of your fault that it no longer works the way you prefer it to. they may refer you to Tom tom to make it work how you want it to. maybe the sales person will help you and sort it for you.

When we had problems with our TomTom 510, we had to send it back direct to TomTom. If you get in touch with customer services they will talk you through what to do. They send you all you need to return it and its all trackable.
