Gums deep clean

I'm not looking for advice but people's experiences. 
I'm having a crown fitted at band 3
Dentist planning on doing an under the gum line deep clean too. 
I've googled it and now really anxious it sounds awful. 
I'm 72 with a couple of crowns and 2 teeth with veneers. 
How did you find the treatment?

Hi, It sounds horrendous but it actually isn't that bad. If it does hurt ask for an injection.

Just had my right side done plus impression for crown on that side. 
The cleaning was no worse than regular cleaning 

I do have problems with gagging which is horrendous when having an impression 

Glad it's over for 2 weeks

Two months ago my father was facing the same problem and with a lot of pain. It was so painful that he was not even able to eat anything. Then the dentist gone through a surgery, after that only he was in relief.
