Are there any reclaimable mortgage fees nowadays?

I'm in the process of trying to sort out our mortgage so have pulled out every statement and letter going back years.
There were quite a lot of charges on there and I'm wondering if any of them could be argued about.
Every month we were ever in arrears they charged us £27.50. What for? In addition there were times many years ago where there was a Monthly Arrears fee of £50 or a Monthly Litigation fee of £55 at one point.
In addition they are also showing Interest charged which is obviously fine but then beneath this additional interest charged.
Any thoughts appreciated.

What do the terms of your mortgage say about these fees?
Are you trying to argue the fees are unfair, or your mortgage was mis-sold in some way?

What for, because it will be detailed in the mortgage T & C's that you agreed to.Angelcrackers said:I'm in the process of trying to sort out our mortgage so have pulled out every statement and letter going back years.

Sorry perhaps that was poorly worded. What I mean is - is £27.50 a fair amount to charge per month or worse £50 a month for being in arrears? I understand that it is in the T&C just whether it could be argued they are unfair and just adding to the debt owed.0

Only the FOS can decide if they are fair and people have had success in getting some waived. Have you spoken to your mortgage company about them - did you engage with them about the arrears?
You would need to exhaust the mortgage companies complaints process before you can go to FOS.0 -

Unfair in what way? The administration cost of monitoring and dealing wth delinquent accounts has to be recouped. £50 an hour sounds a lot. In the context of employing staff to perform this role, providing them with equipment to do their job and a desk to sit at in a rented office it isn't.Angelcrackers said:Sorry perhaps that was poorly worded.
