For what it's worth, I have been going through the DRO process this week with Money Wellness after struggling to deal with a bereavement.

I spoke to someone initially on Monday, then spoke to somebody on Wednesday who drafted the application, and once I paid the fee, it was submitted the same day. They have been very good with no judgement whatsoever (they do send a lot of texts and emails, though).

The guy who processed my application said they only submit them if they are virtually certain they will be accepted, and of the 100's he's done, not one has ever been refused.
Thanks, Jack. I suspect Money Well ness is actually the best way of getting these done now, since CAB seem to get their knickers in a twist over the smallest problem.

MaPS funded CAB and Money Wellness to do them, but not Stepchange, which is the point where they threw a strop.

What i didn't realise until this week is that MaPS have funded MW to the tune of something like 30 million to provide debt advice outside the DRO hub. I've no idea what they do with that moneey

It was in this but it's a huge download and I can't be bothered to do it on this tablet

    Thanks @fatbelly

Just to clarify, are the three debt charities

    https://www.stepchange.org/

    https://moneyadvicetrust.org/

    and

    https://www.nationaldebtline.org/

    or are there more now?

I heard of Money Helper which is part of Money and Pension Service

    https://www.moneyhelper.org.uk/en

I looked at the money wellness site and it said that the bottom

Money Wellness is a trading style of Gregory Pennington Limited © 2022. Registered office: Think Park, Mosley Road, Trafford Park, Manchester, M17 1FQ. Registered in England and Wales. Co Reg No. 02855061. Authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority for its consumer credit and insurance and mortgage mediation activities.
    FCA Reference  no 664019

So seems to be a commercial company, I do not know this company or brand, what I do know is YouTube is full of videos about debt which are fronted by so called Debt Advisors.

I have used Stepchange years ago and National Debtline more recently, the latter spent over an hour on the phone with me and were extremely helpful.

Why am I not surprised that Gov throws money at a commercial 3rd party to the detriment of established charities in the sector like CAB?

The other day I tried to call Trading Standards who were effectively destroyed in the austerity period (which I feel Councils have never recovered from) it was the CAB who took the call and all the details.  Not sure if anything came of it, not had an email yet.

Stepchange no longer do DRO`s, as fatbelly has explained in previous posts, and yes, Money wellness aka Gregory Pennington, are the most recent provider of DRO`s having being welcomed into the fold.

A case of Poacher turned Gamekeeper if ever I saw one.
