"Debt collectors" have no more power than next door's cat, so ignore. Keep very quiet meantime.
However, if you sent a statute barred letter, you've probably restarted the 6 year enforcement period. Just hope that if you don't respond they forget you.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi. I was contacted recently by ACI, they have bought an old debt from Capquest. It is two debts with the same home shopping company, I think I opened them 16 years ago when I had my baby. Occasionally over the years they have sent a letter or statement but never particularly pressed me about the debt. So this new company were saying that they were going to pass me to another company who would send someone to my home if I didn't respond etc etc. When I looked into things, I was pretty sure the debt was statute barred. I found a template letter and sent it to them, I did not admit the debt. They've written back to tell me that one of the debts is indeed stature barred but the other isn't as I apparently paid them 5 pounds in 2019. I don't remember this, is was a very bad time, my child attempted to unalive themselves and I am their full time carer ever since. I checked my bank statements and I did make this payment a few months following the incident I just mentioned. They have closed the statute barred debt and are still saying that they willing get this other company to come round. What should I do? It's for about 1,300 pounds, we are very low income. Is there any way I can delay things? The debt becomes statute barred on the 18/3/2025. I am a home owner, I don't want to risk my home over this. Thank you.

I made sure to state that I did not accept any liability for the debt in the statute barred letter.0
