Applying for buy to let mortgage whilst remortgaging residential

Hello,
I am looking to apply for a buy to let mortgage very closely/alongside remortgaging due to end of fix rate deal on residential property.
Is this a good idea as I want to minimise any credit checks and have questions raised about affordability from residential lenders, plus anything else which might come up. Therefore thinking to go through residential remortgaging first and then look at the buy to let mortgage. Any thoughts on this?
