    Apart from my worrying about your remaining battery, could you do as Qyburn suggests and make the max permitted contribution under salary sacrifice and then make a personal contribution into the scheme to save opening another pension?
    It should be possible but an advance check with the provider is strongly recommended. They may be only set up to receive employer payments via a salary sacrifice scheme.
    Definitely check. My workplace pension did allow this but there were some ID checks needed first to verify the source of funds for my contributions. Needed at that stage as previously all contributions had come from the employer.

    ^^^This.
    Also, you will still get tax relief on that personal contribution.  You just lose employer's contribution and the NI saving. It is almost always best to SS if you can.
