This morning feels like the eye of the storm.

Yesterday was a weird day. As the stormy winds battered the land I had no power from late Sunday evening. I stayed in bed until it was light outside, lit the woodburner, filled a couple of flasks and then had coffee. I did a quick foray to the local shops and then just hung around. I accosted a SSE workman who was part of the swarm of engineers, he was very pleasant but (of course) couldn't give me an update. Once the power came back on in the early afternoon the same chap knocked on my door to check that I was connected and OK.Today, all being well, the TV bloke is coming to install new freesat boxes which means adjusting the connections on the dish. I really hope that he doesn't get soaked as the heavy rain is due in about half an hour. My cleaner is due too though I may put her off, can't really be doing with two people in the house at the same time wanting to be in the same spaces. Will do more prepping for the oncoming storm later today. I hope that everyone can stay safe, dry and warm.11

Morning all
Pouring with rain here and not meant to let up all day and another storm warning in place, I have three people coming today assuming they all come so we may either have to have a day indoors or maybe bowling for an hour or so and a hot chocolate in a cafe somewhere, I love people coming when the weather is good and we can get out and about but it’s much harder when the weather is bad.
Dinner tonight for OH and I is summer in winter chicken with chilli pesto, I can’t eat normal pesto as it makes me sick 🤢 so we have a chilli one, will do some pasta or rice to go with it. DD is on a late shift at work so will eat there.
House is tidy but may run the hoover round before they come and the recycling bin needs emptying.
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
Morning all
Another storm due later - I’m sure they’ve been worse since started naming them 😂
Off to my part time job thankfully just for a few hours this morning. Have to also fit in three different type of parcel drop offs plus the post office and a few bits from the supermarket. This afternoon might be dog walking weather depending, otherwise some admin and craft work. DM is making sausage casserole so hopefully no cooking either.
Hope everyone stays safe and well

Morning All
Battening down the hatches for another storm, seems to be so many at the moment. It's dry but a bit breezy at the moment.
I've not been feeling too good, high temperature, cough and general malaise so am staying home from work (had yesterday off too). Thankfully I have enough supplies although I'm not eating much at the moment which won't do me any harm!
Glad you have your power back on Gers, hope it stays on.
I haven't had chilli pesto Ruby, will look out for it.
I'm going for a shower and then parking myself on the sofa. Take care. XX11 -
Morning! Up at the bloody crack of whatever...well, it is for me...I heard the recycling men so had to rush out half dressed to give them a box of chocolates for Christmas. That's done now, no more chocolate in the house tempting anyone to munch it. I boiled up my tangerines and clementiines yesterday only they turned out to be more mini orange than tangerine, so we'll see. I'll finish it off today. It was really peaceful slicing away at all the peel and I'm not faffing about with little jars, they're going in litre ones, I have tens of them, more than I can possibly use unless I go full on smallholder [maybe once upon a time...], so why buy little ones when I have big free ones. Dishwasher will go on later to sterilise them too. That's about my day, maybe there'll be some thinking later on too about stuff in general.Gers, hope the TV man doesn't get rained on and it's done quickly! camelot, yeah, stay in, wrap up! Ruby, there must be one ingredient in there that you don't like, if it isn't basil, you could always try making your own without whatever it is that makes you feel sick...
Allie, enjoy your busy day
Take care all, especially those in or near storm land...

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Battening down the hatches here too with more heavy rain battering and building up to winds of 60 mph to last all night.
I'm a wounded soldier this morning, thanks to being gormless (or stupid) Late afternoon yesterday I managed to injure my foot and I was in agony. I spent the night downstairs as it was too painful in bed with the duvet on it. I sat under my heated throw and tried to doze but I couldn't. I resorted to bags of frozen veg on it to get the swelling down. It does feel marginally easier this morning so a day feet up on the sofa is in store. I hope I can manage a long nap to catch up on some sleep.
Have a safe day if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Good morning everyone
Raining here also but at least there is a lull in the high winds but due back later. It's bin day tomorrow but I may decide to get up mega early to put them out in the morning as they are likely to be blown over. I have buckets containing bricks in them to anchor them down in the garden so a head first dive is required before I wheel them out.
Off to visit poorly SIL soon and to do a small shop on the way there.
Nothing else planned for the day.
Thinking of the poorlies, the sad and the worried.
Take care xx11 -

Perhaps a wee trip to A&E is needed to check it out.I hope that you feel better soon, or at least in less pain. 🌹
I have put off my cleaner, feel happier with that, and wonder if the TV guy will come. He has to do some work outside and it's tipping down already. Will just sit tight and see. I've vacuumed the woodburner and set the fire ready to light if the power fails again.10 -
Morning everyone
Was wild all day yesterday and the heavens opened just as it was pick up time from school and nursery. I got a lift up home, put my pyjamas on and settled down with my Sunday Times. It's calm at the moment, but forecast for strong wind later in the day and lasting all day tomorrow.
I've work at lunchtime, but not feeling too good - I'm very achy and my hands are swollen and painful - the joys of Long Covid. It's only for a few hours though so I'll manage.
My blue bin should be out today but there's not a lot in it so it can wait until next time.
Right better get moving - hope everyone has a good day x11 -
Sorry to hear you have hurt your foot/ankle TA. As Gers has said - perhaps a trip to A&E is needed to check it out.9
